Movie day and auction planned, new app available for library patrons

Happy Fall!

The Friends held a membership drive during National Friends of the Libraries Week, but they are still taking new members.  Become a member of the Friends of the Library by picking up an application at the front desk.  It is only $10 a year. 

The Friends’ next planned event will be in December.  It will be a silent auction, which will include items such as porcelain dolls, framed artwork, jewelry, kitchenware, etc.  Patrons may begin viewing the items and placing their bids on Saturday, December 9, and continuing through noon on Thursday, December 14.  Winners of the bid items will be notified that afternoon, and items can be picked up Thursday afternoon, Friday, and Saturday.    

For our Axis360 patrons, you may have noticed Axis360 is now called Boundless.  If you use the Axis360 app, though, you will need to download the Boundless app.  However, logging in from the library’s website and/or catalog is still done in the same manner and does not require an app.  If you have any questions regarding the new features, please call the library for assistance at 228-863-0711.

Family Movie Day will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 10 a.m. in the children’s wing, and our book sale will continue to be held on Saturdays, as well.

Holiday closings for November include Veterans Day on Friday, November 10, through Saturday, November 11. We’ll reopen on Monday, November 13, at 9 a.m. We’ll also be closed for a few days for Thanksgiving beginning at noon on Wednesday, November 22, and reopening on Monday, November 27, at 9 a.m.

There will be no meetings for the Friends of the Library or the Long Beach Library Board of Trustees in November.
