Gift wrapping, movies and more on tap this December at library

December will be packed with lots of holiday fun, so let’s get right to it!

Stop by the library to vote on your favorite holiday movie during the first two weeks in December.  A Christmas card station will be set up for patrons who would like to select a card to send to someone this year. 

This year, patrons can get their last-minute gifts wrapped at the library during the Friends of the Library’s “It’s a Wrap!” event.  On select days during December, you can come by the library to enjoy your favorite holiday movie while Santa’s “Friends” wrap your gifts.  Any monetary donations are welcome and will be used to help fund this event.  Thank you in advance from the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library and its staff.

Also – please don’t toss out last year’s wrapping paper! Instead, donate it to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library.  Our Friends group is in need of gift-wrapping supplies, such as paper, scotch tape, ribbons, bows and gift tags for their last-minute gift-wrapping days coming up in December. 

There are no meetings planned for the Long Beach Board of Trustees or the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library for the month of December. 

Family Movie Day will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, in the children’s wing.  We will be showing Dreamworks Pictures Kung Fu Panda Holiday.

Preschool story time will continue to be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. 

The library will be closed for Christmas holidays on Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25. We will reopen on Thursday, December 26, at 9 a.m.

As a reminder to everyone, Long Beach Public Library’s hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  We are open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  On Saturdays, we hold our book sale in the main meeting room.

The library’s Friends are in need of gift-wrapping supplies. Long Beach residents are asked to consider donating any/all of the following to support the “It’s a Wrap!” effort:

• Wrapping paper
• Clear Scotch tape
• Ribbon
• Bows
• Gift tags (not peel-and-stick)
• String

Donations may be dropped off at the library at 209 Jeff Davis Avenue.

Patrons can relax and enjoy a holiday movie while Santa’s “Friends” wrap holiday gifts. Wrapping will be provided by the Friends of the Library for no charge, but monetary donations are appreciated and will help fund this and future activities. A Gift Tag station will be available for patrons to make personalized tags for their gifts.
