Community enjoys successful Night Out Against Crime

By Toni Miles

Once again, the Long Beach Police Department’s Night Out Against Crime was a big hit, with hundreds of kids and their parents attending the annual event. Kids and young people showed up decked out in costume and had activities, booths, games, give aways and interactive displays to check out, including an Acadian ambulance, a Long Beach Fire Department truck and jet skis, to name a few.

The Long Beach Police Department manned several booths, including one where free pizza and cookies were given away. There was plenty of candy to go around, too, offered at dozens of booths at the event, which was held at the Harper McCaughan Town Green.

The Long Beach Police Department hosts the free, family-friendly event each year in an effort to build and strengthen the relationship between law enforcement in the area and the local community.
