Shayla Nguyen Named LBHS’s BSN Student-Athlete of the Month

 Long Beach School District is proud to announce that Shayla Nguyen has been selected as the BSN Student Athlete of the Month at Long Beach High School! A talented member of the cheer squad, soccer team, and track team, Shayla has made a remarkable impact at her school, particularly with the Lady Bearcats soccer team.

Her dedication and hard work are evident in every practice and game, where she consistently demonstrates her commitment to excellence. As a testament to her leadership skills, her teammates elected her as captain for her senior year, a role she wholeheartedly embraces with passion and responsibility.

Shayla’s versatility shines through as she adeptly handles multiple positions on the field, whether playing defense, midfield, or forward. She always prioritizes the success of the team, showcasing her selflessness and dedication. Beyond her individual skills, Shayla possesses a unique ability to uplift and encourage her teammates, fostering a positive atmosphere that inspires those around her.

Shayla Nguyen is “one of a kind”. Everything she does, she does with 110% effort and dedication. 110% may seem standard to athletes in pursuit of next level play or students striving for highest honors at graduation, but Shayla is not one or the other, she is both. She gives 110% to soccer, cheerleading, track, the classroom, and the community.  In addition, she is a stellar teammate who leads by example. Although she cannot compete with the cheer team in the postseason, she still supports her teammates by sending words of encouragement or attending any event she is able to attend. What really makes Shayla one of a kind is that she chooses to give 110%. 

Her contributions extend far beyond the field of play; she embodies the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship, making her an invaluable asset to her teams and our school community. Shayla Nguyen is truly deserving of this honor, and we look forward to celebrating her continued achievements!
