4th of July Jubilee to light up Long Beach
By Toni Miles
Sparks – and fireworks – will begin to fly in Long Beach before the Fourth of July holiday rolls around this year.
The City of Long Beach’s Third Annual 4th of July Jubilee is set for Saturday, June 28, in downtown Long Beach. The daylong activities start at the Harper McCaughan Town Green at 11 a.m. and will include food, games and activities the entire family can enjoy, followed by a parade, fireworks and a party.
As in years past, the parade procession will include “floats” such as golf cars, lawn mowers and even wagons. The parade – and events – are free and open to the public. Parade-goers are advised to show up early to stake out a good spot on the parade route on Jeff Davis Avenue, where chairs can be set up at prime viewing spots along the parade route. Military personnel, local Boy Scouts, and patriotic residents and businesses are all scheduled to be part of this year’s parade procession.

The Third Annual 4th of July Jubilee is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, with free festivities kicking off at the Harper McCaughan Town Green, followed by a parade in downtown Long Beach, a fireworks show and a free block party.
Before the parade rolls at 6 p.m., the Harper McCaughan Town Green, located at Jeff Davis Avenue and Third Street, will be the site of local vendors, food trucks and all sorts of family fun and activities to celebrate Independence Day early. This dayside celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. and will continue until 6:30 p.m. A block party begins at 7 p.m.
After the 6 p.m. parade, there will be a fireworks show to light up the night sky over the Jim Simpson Pier on the west side of the Long Beach Harbor and just south of Highway 90. After the fireworks show, which is scheduled for 8:45 p.m., the block party will continue until 11 p.m. in downtown Long Beach. The block party is sponsored by Coastal Daiquiri.
Making its debut back in 2023, the 4th of July Jubilee has grown in popularity over the past few years, drawing locals and visitors alike and becoming a Long Beach tradition.
Those who would like to be a part of the festivities or the parade procession are encouraged to email LBMSMainStreet@gmail.com for a vendor or parade application.
