Crews continue to pave the way towards completion of the City of Long Beach’s 3rd Street Sidewalk Project.
Framing work for the project began back in early July, and visible work continues to be seen eastward on 3rd Street, as workers continue to lay the foundation and concrete for a continual sidewalk spanning several blocks. The sidewalk is designed to improve walkway connectivity in the area, spanning all the way from the heart of downtown to the University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park Campus in east Long Beach.

The $333,285 project is funded through the Downtown Revitalization Grant and will ultimately connect Jeff Davis Avenue to the USM Gulf Park Campus improving pedestrian access to the downtown area.
The scope of work includes constructing new sidewalks where none existed and connecting gaps between existing sidewalks in certain areas, all part of the City’s overall investment in infrastructure improvements that support a safer, more connected, and pedestrian-friendly downtown for residents, students and visitors.
