Chemours Partners with PCMS Sixth Grade Science Classes

Pass Christian Middle School sixth graders recently had the opportunity to bring science to life through a partnership with Chemours in Delisle in Mrs. White’s sixth grade science class. Over the past four weeks, students studied Physical Science, focusing on Newton’s Laws of Motion and the different types of forces.
To put their learning into practice, students worked in groups to design and build catapults, using supplies and a rubric provided by Chemours.
Engineers and process technicians from Chemours visited the classroom to guide students in testing their catapults and to set up five competition stations: Distance, Precision, Accuracy, Impact, and Forces. Each station challenged students to apply their understanding of motion and force while competing for top scores.
The project combined science, teamwork, and creativity, giving students hands-on experience with real-world engineering. Winners of the catapult challenge will be announced soon and will receive prizes provided by Chemours.
