Long Beach and Pass Christian Continue Strong Starts

Long Beach and Pass Christian both continued their strong starts over the last two weeks, combining to win all four of their games.

Long Beach defeated Bay 30-10 on Sept. 11 before returning home Friday night and beating Purvis 28-17. After losing its opener to Pass Christian, the Bearcats have responded with three consecutive victories to improve to 3-1.

The turnaround has been especially impressive defensively. Long Beach allowed 48 points in the season opener but has held each of its last three opponents below 20 points.

Pass Christian has yet to lose. The Pirates survived their closest game of the year on Sept. 11, defeating Presbyterian Christian 40-38.

A week later, Pass Christian left much less doubt. The Pirates rolled past St. Stanislaus 49-14 to improve to 4-0. Pass Christian has now scored 192 points through four games, including at least 40 points in every contest.

Long Beach will have a week off before traveling to South Jones on Oct. 2, while Pass Christian travels to East Central Friday night.
