Pass High Pirates Celebrate an Unforgettable Homecoming Week

The halls of Pass Christian High School pulsed with energy last week as students, teachers, families, and the community came together to celebrate one of the most cherished traditions of the year —Homecoming Week. From the first bell on Monday to the last song at Saturday night’s dance, the spirit of the Pirates was on full display, proving once again that Homecoming at Pass High is so much more than just a football game. It’s a celebration of creativity, unity, tradition, and pride.
The week opened with a hilarious start on “Adam Sandler Day” as students ditched their usual wardrobes for oversized t-shirts, baggy basketball shorts, backward hats, and sneakers, channeling the comedian’s iconic laid-back style. Laughter echoed through the hallways as the sight of a hundred “Sandler lookalikes” created the perfect icebreaker to launch the festivities.
By Tuesday, the school had transformed again—this time into a living album cover collection. From hip-hop to classic rock, students strutted through the halls dressed as their favorite musicians and iconic covers. The biggest surprise? A tidal wave of students dressed as Soulja Boy, complete with gold chains, cool shades, and rapper swag. The playful energy was infectious, and it became clear the Pirates weren’t holding back on their Homecoming spirit.
Midweek brought a clever twist with the “Student-Teacher Swap.” Students arrived in polished khakis, button-down shirts, and smart dresses, channeling their teachers’ professional style, while the faculty turned the tables by embracing the comfort of student life—slipping into sweatshirts, slides, and casual gear. The role reversal sparked plenty of laughs and lighthearted teasing, a reminder that Homecoming is as much about building community as it is about competition. Though the day’s pep rally in the park and annual parade were unfortunately canceled due to stormy weather, the Pirates refused to let a little rain dampen their spirits. Instead, they kept their eyes on the adventures ahead, determined to make the rest of the week unforgettable.
On Thursday, the campus came alive in a kaleidoscope of color. Each grade took to the challenge of “Color Wars,” dressing head-to-toe in their assigned shade, filling the hallways with a dazzling rainbow of school pride. Seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen alike battled it out with creativity and volume, vying for the honor of being crowned the most spirited class. The effect was breathtaking: a living, moving spectrum of Pirate pride.
By Friday, anticipation had reached a fever pitch. With this year’s school theme of “Adventure/Travel” as inspiration, students donned outfits inspired by explorers, travelers, and wanderers, turning the campus into a bustling hub of imagination. The hall decorating contest turned our hallways into worlds of their own, but it was the Sophomore class that ultimately stole the show with their whimsical Disney-inspired take on adventure. The excitement spilled directly into the Homecoming Pep Rally, where families and community members packed into the gym to cheer alongside the students. The band, cheerleaders, and dance team lit up the crowd with electrifying performances, while each grade competed fiercely in the spirit chant challenge. When the final roar subsided, the Juniors emerged victorious, clutching the spirit stick as the loudest, proudest Pirates in the gym.
But Friday wasn’t finished yet. As the sun dipped low, the campus buzzed again—this time with the smell of tailgate food, the sound of laughter, and the anticipation of the Homecoming football game. Families gathered, alumni returned, and the Homecoming Court took center stage as the Queen and King, Ande Montiforte and Dalton Nix, were crowned, greeted with cheers from the stands.
Then came the main event: under the glow of the stadium lights, the Pirates clashed with East Central in a game that kept the crowd on edge before ending in a triumphant Pass High victory. The stands erupted as the final whistle blew, Pirates embracing Pirates in a shared moment of joy and unstoppable pride that could be felt across the community.
Finally, Saturday night delivered the perfect closing chapter to the week. Students traded costumes and spirit gear for gowns, suits, and glittering ties as they stepped into the Homecoming Dance. The room sparkled as students danced, laughed, and celebrated together, the buzz of the week still humming in the air. For one last night, the hallways of Pass High gave way to a space filled with music, friendship, and the kind of memories that linger long after the lights dim.
Homecoming Week 2025 was more than just a lineup of themed days and a football game—it was a living testament to the unity, creativity, and boundless Pirate pride that defines Pass Christian High School. With every laugh, cheer, and chant, the community showed what makes Pass High truly unstoppable. And as the students left the dance floor Saturday night, one thought echoed in the air: we can’t wait to do it all again next year.
