Hello, Long Beach!
There is much to report as we head into November. The Long Beach Public Library is now officially part of the Harrison County Library System, so in the next few weeks you should notice changes taking place.
Here are some of the upcoming programs at the library:
- The Rummikub Club meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. Space is limited, so please contact the library to reserve a spot.
- Chinese Filipino Mahjong matches will be held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. Space is limited, so please contact the library to reserve a spot.
- Long Beach Craft & Chat is held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. You must bring your own crafting supplies.
- Mexican Train Dominoes will be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, so please contact the library to reserve a spot.
- Sit, Stay, READ! is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, and begins at 10 a.m. If your child struggles with reading, these trained therapy dogs are not only the perfect audience but also offer a unique solution for children who need encouragement to improve their literacy skills in a non-judgemental environment. It’s also fun for kids of all reading abilities. It’s free, and no registration is required. However, we do ask that an adult accompany the child for this event. For more information, please call the library at 228-863-0711.
- Preschool Story Time will continue through November. It is held each Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s wing. This program is geared towards the four and under crowd. We read a story, make a craft and dance to favorite children’s songs.
The library will be closed for the following holidays:
- Wednesday, November 11, for Veteran’s Day. We will reopen on Thursday, November 12, at 9 a.m.
- Thursday, November 26, through Sunday, November 29, for Thanksgiving Day holidays. We will reopen on Monday, November 30, at 9 a.m.
For more information about any of our events or offerings, please give us a call at 228-863-0711. The library is located at 209 Jeff Davis Avenue.
As always, we thank everyone for their continued support and patronage. Stay safe, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
