Building stronger communities together – that’s what Main Street America is all about, and the City of Long Beach is a member of this nation-wide organization that fosters economic and community development by enhancing the city’s historic charm, local businesses and public spaces.

Through engagement, pride and quality design, Long Beach Main Street supports local leaders in creating a vibrant downtown and a thriving economy. By implementing the Main Street approach and focusing on organization, design, promotion and economic vitality, the program works to revitalize the community, attract investment and ensure long-term success for businesses and residents alike, and the Board of Directors are on a roll right now.

The Long Beach Main Street Board of Directors recently applied for a grant. Courtney Welch has submitted an application for a grant of up to $500,000 for the local organization, which could be a game-changer for all the Long Beach Main Street organization is looking to achieve in the Friendly City.

It’s hard to believe the Christmas holidays are just less than four months away, and members of the group are seeking sponsors for this year’s Annual Sea Santa Sail-A-Bration, scheduled this year for Saturday, December 6. Sponsored by Long Beach Main Street and the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, thousands gather each year for the waterless boat parade that winds through downtown Long Beach, along with various family-friendly events and activities scheduled at the Long Beach Harper McCaughan Town Green after the evening parade in the downtown area. Participating boats (parade “floats”) can sign up now.

Volunteers are also being sought for Christmas Village at the town green for the celebration. To volunteer, visit to the Long Beach (MS) Main Street Facebook page. Businesses interested in joining the Long Beach Main Street Association can also visit their Facebook page for more information.
