They sacrificed to ensure Americans’ lives, liberty and freedom; and, on Sunday, November 9, everyone is invited to take part in Long Beach’s annual Veterans Day Parade to honor the area’s local veterans.

Sponsored by the City of Long Beach, the non-profit Coast Cares Foundation and the Long Beach Community Development Association each year, the parade is set to roll at 1:30 p.m., with a celebration in the downtown area to follow.

Dozens of veterans and veterans’ groups, active-duty military, marching bands and others have already signed up to march in the parade and cruise down the parade route in floats or decorated golf carts and other vehicles. Everyone is welcome to be part of the parade procession and can register up to the day of parade on November 9 by calling 228-297-9298.

Line up for the parade begins at 1 p.m. and will be held at the Long Beach High School parking lot next to the football stadium.

The event is free and open to the public, but organizers encourage those who would like to attend to stake out a spot on the parade route early.

After the parade, there will be a celebration at the Harper McCaughan Town Green until 3:30 p.m. Lunch will also be provided for all veterans after the parade, and food will be available for others to purchase from vendors set up at the celebration site.
