The hunt will soon be on! Easter Egg Hunt planned for April 12

Preparations are underway for the City of Long Beach’s annual Easter egg hunt, one of the most popular events of the year for youngsters.

Last year, hundreds of children waited not-so-patiently behind the lines as City leaders and volunteers spread out thousands of plastic eggs with goodies inside across the Harper McCaughan Town Green, and, once the egg hunt officially started, the young ones had scooped up all of the eggs within two minutes!

This year, the hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Harper McCaughan Town Green, located at 301 Jeff Davis Avenue.

As with each year’s event, there will be three separate egg hunts by age, with the first hunt starting at 10 a.m. for children two to four years of age, then at 10:45 a.m. for those ages five to seven; and the last hunt, for ages eight and nine, starts at 11:15 a.m.

There will also be face painting and crafts during the two-hour event, and the Easter Bunny himself will be on hand to take photos from 10 a.m. until noon.

Children participating in the Easter egg hunts should bring a basket or bag to collect their eggs in.

The April 12 Easter egg hunt precedes Palm Sunday on April 13. Easter Sunday is the following Sunday, on April 20.
