City of Long Beach Launches Summer Open Gym Program for Kids

The City of Long Beach has announced the return of its popular Summer Open Gym program, offering local children an engaging and active way to spend their summer break. Running from June 2 through July 18, the program welcomes boys and girls ages 5 to 12 for a variety of games, sports, and recreational activities designed to keep young participants moving and entertained.

Held Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the program costs $20 per day or $75 per week, making it an affordable option for families looking to keep their children engaged in a safe and structured environment. For working parents in need of extended hours, aftercare is available from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at an additional $40 per week, which includes a snack.

Children attending the Open Gym must bring a packed lunch each day. Snacks will also be available for purchase on-site for $1. Parents should note that the program will be closed from June 30 through July 4.

With summer just around the corner, Long Beach’s Open Gym program offers a reliable and fun opportunity for kids to stay active and social. For more information, interested families are encouraged to contact program coordinator Jannelle Ruiz at Jannellemruiz@gmail.com.

The City of Long Beach is looking forward to another season of laughter, learning, and summer fun.
